Creative Brief

Project Title: Goodwear

Target audience:

Community donors and community members in need; young adults – adults (ages 20-60+)

Background:

Goodwear is a community-based merchandise marketplace application for those in need of affordable and convenient apparel and accessories.

Design problem:

To design an application that is very easy to use and accessible to all who need it while also creating sustainability in communities and expanding on sites such as Facebook Marketplace by being more reliable.

Design process:

Sometimes, members of underserved communities may be hesitant to seek help for immediate needs/services in public places. Goodwear respects anonymity and privacy of those in need by helping save time hunting through thrift stores, saves money by skipping the marked-up prices of items from the “middleman” that is thrift stores like Goodwill and Salvation Army, and is convenient and efficient.

Design solution:

:Individuals with the Goodwear application or online profile will upload photos of clothing and other items willing to be donated and the application will match their items with people in need who would like to purchase. Once matched, donors will put their items in a box or bag and leave it outside of their door for Goodwear drivers to come pick up and deliver to their matched purchasers. All the products uploaded to the Goodwear catalogue are only by verified donating users; users donating items, in return, earn credits to local thrift shops as incentive to donate and not sell their items.

For example, someone going on a job interview may lack the resources to know where or be able to go seek appropriate apparel. With a Goodwear profile, they are easily able to search for what apparel they need at incredibly affordable prices and have it delivered at their convenience. Within the application, users purchasing items can adjust filters for what kinds of products they are shown: price range, distance from the seller, type of product for sale, etc. Additionally, users donating items must have their products approved by Goodwear before they become added to the catalogue for purchase.

The logo design is simple and will be recognizable. The arrows represent reusability of donated apparel and the benefit of sustainability in recycling rather than purchasing new.
