Creative Brief

Project Title: Caffeine Magazine

Target audience:

Young adults – adults (18-50+) and coffee enthusiasts.

Background:

Caffeine is a bi-quarterly magazine dedicated to the success and growth of the specialty coffee industry—addressing the art, culture, and business of coffee.

Design problem:

To design a magazine that is bold, yet simple and eye-catching. Focus on typeface, composition, and strong color palette.

Design process:

With the booming popularity of fast-paced chain shops, the appreciation for quality coffee, the process, and the artistry behind the drinks, has been forgotten. This magazine dives into the rich history of coffee and the art of making it as well as highlighting coffee content creators and small businesses. Combining the simplicity of modern-day minimalist coffeehouses with bold, recognizable colors, and easy to read typefaces will entice readers to want to learn more about this magazine.

Design solution:

The design focuses on strong yet simple photography of different coffees and aspects of coffee culture as well as a good use of color and readable typeface. Aside from the coffee guide infographic, all images are taken and edited by me. Text, color, and imagery will be the main focus, to be easily recognized as a publication about coffee.
